英文摘要
This paper presents the uses of ground improvement methods in deep excavation site for the sake of building protection. Three methods are introduced; they are: deep mixing piles(DMP), jet grout piles(JGP)and micropiles. DMP and JGP are normally used to improve the soil within the excavation site. Micropiles, however, are used to reinforce the soil behind a diaphragm wall, or next to a building foundation. Design and construction of these methods are described in detail. Case histories from ten sites are presented to show the effectiveness of ground improvement. Generally, with the application of ground improvement in a deep excavation site, wall movement can be reduced to a few centimeters, as such, settlement of adjacent building can be minimized to less than 1-2 cm, which is normally within tolerable limit.
